EBCI Tribal Option Launches “Eat Well, Play Well, Stay Well” Billboard Design Contest for Youth

The EBCI Tribal Option is inviting young artists to show off their creativity in a new billboard design contest centered on the theme “Eat Well, Play Well, Stay Well.” Open to enrolled members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians between the ages of 5 and 18, this opportunity offers a platform for youth to share their vision of wellness with the community—and beyond.

Whether it’s playing your favorite sport, hiking with family, or choosing healthy traditional foods, the prompt encourages participants to express what “Eat Well, Play Well, Stay Well” means to them through art.

The winning artwork will be featured on billboards across western North Carolina, promoting health, balance, and Cherokee culture in a visual and meaningful way. All submissions will be showcased on EBCI Tribal Option’s Website and social media as well as on various Tribal Option materials over the next year.

“We’re proud to offer a space where youth can help lead the conversation on what wellness looks like in our community,” said Jimmy Burns, Assistant Director of EBCI Tribal Option. “This contest is not only a chance to showcase artistic talent but also to highlight the values that keep our people strong—physically, emotionally, and culturally.”
